Safaricom, one of Kenya's leading telecommunications providers, has introduced an innovative feature called Niokolee, allowing customers to request airtime from their friends and family. This new service, accessible through a USSD code, is available to both PrePay and PostPay subscribers.
Similar to Safaricom's "Please Call Me" feature that enables users to prompt their contacts for a call during urgent situations, Niokolee allows users to request airtime ranging from Ksh.10 to Ksh.100 from their loved ones.
To send a Niokolee request, follow these steps:
1. Dial *444# on your Safaricom line.
2. Select "Niokolee" and then choose "Request Kredo".
3. Enter the Safaricom number from which you would like to request credit.
4. Select the desired amount of airtime from the available options.
5. Wait for the recipient to accept or decline your request.
To accept a Niokolee request, follow these steps:
1. You will receive a prompt from 44444 asking you to "Accept" or "Decline" the request.
2. After accepting the request, the corresponding amount will be deducted from your airtime account.
In addition to airtime requests, the Niokolee menu includes a "Share Kredo" option, enabling Safaricom customers to share airtime with each other without the need for a formal request. However, it's important to note that Share Kredo gifts have fixed amounts and are valid for a specific duration, unlike the existing Sambaza feature where users can enter any amount, and the airtime does not expire.
With the introduction of Niokolee, Safaricom aims to provide its customers with a more convenient and efficient way to request airtime from their contacts. This user-friendly feature enhances communication and ensures that users can stay connected, even during times when they may be running low on airtime.
Stay tuned as Safaricom continues to innovate and introduce more exciting features to enhance the overall mobile experience for its valued customers.
